Time for another post…
Ok so a few things have happened since my last post. Nothing to life changing but worth mentioning. Let see from December until now… Of course we had Christmas which was a blast in fact it was quite a let down when Christmas vacation was over both Lorri and I felt that we needed another break because we enjoyed the time so much. Now we just need to figure out when we can take another few days off. Ok moving on. After Christmas there were a few exciting things that happened with work. I am sure you have all met or have at least heard me talk about my best friend Matt Hoffman. Well just before Christmas he left his position at Sandman and decided to come and work in my office. Matt is a amazing 3D artist and is really creative. Ever since we were young nerds making light saber fights with the old school Quickcams we have always wanted to work together. So now that he has joined the lights side of the force and not longer has any benefits like the rest of the Self employed world we can do great things. No I am really excited. The plan is to take our respective companies and leave them as is but create a new organization that specializes in high end corporate video production with all the bells and whistles. Having said this it’s not like I have felt that what I have been doing has not been high end but it’s much easer to have a nice polished really expensive looking video when you can have professionals concentrating on what they are good at. So I can devote my whole attention to the camera work and Matt can not worry about getting hard to work with footage. Yes I think this is the beginning of a wonderful relationship. (currently we are working on a cool project that I will have to post when we are done. I think it’s going to be way cool.)

Ok the other thing that was cool this past month was that Lorri and I went to GWAVACon. GWAVACon is a 3 day conferace all about email. Now why would we want to go to a 3 day even about email you say? It’s because we got payed for it. Ha.. No GWAVA is a client of mine who is always doing cool thins. Their products are among other things Ani-Spam and Anti-Virus software for the email program developed by Novell, it’s called GroupWise. So this conference is for all the people who have to maintain and administer this email program for whatever company they work for. So the reason why we went down was to broadcast a good portion of this conference live over the internet. This is a very cool thing. This was something that couldn’t have been done a few years ago. Well it could have been done but it would have cost a arm and a leg to make it happen. But now anyone can pretty much have any event live over the net on their own T.V. channel. For this show we had a nice little setup of 3 cameras and a live switcher so we could do a edit as we shot. I don’t want to get too technical here but it was a cool thing to be a part of. This client is always working on stretching what they are doing and it’s a adventure to try and figure out how to go above and beyond what you would normally have budget and time to do. Also there is something very exciting about doing a production live, there are no re-takes and what goes down to tape is what you are stuck with so do it right the first time.
Ok well did I mention that this GWAVACon trip was down to San Diego? It was a very nice 50 degrees or so the 4 days we were there. Oh and last year I just went down so it was way cool to have Lorri be able to come this time. The only problem with this trip was that we had to come home to finish a project for the next weekend. If I had been thinking I would have made it so that we could have stayed a few extra days and gone to the Zoo and SeaWorld. So we are going back. We are going like the last week of Feb. It will be out last little fling together before we become a trio in our little family. So we are excited about that.
Ok well I don’t really have any pictures or anything for this post, the cameras are all at the office. But I will leave you with this one. It’s from a evening that we went to the SCERA to enjoy some Irish Dance…..
